India’s first fibre-coated solar roof goes into commercial production

India has announced the first commercial production of a solar roof made with recycled materials.

The government-owned Bharat Solar Power Corporation (BSPCC) said on Monday it had launched the commercial production and distribution of its first solar roof with recycled material.

The solar roof was developed by BSPCC in collaboration with the National Renewable Energy Agency (NREA).

The solar rooftop is being made in a village in Rajasthan state, the company said in a statement.

The solar roof is being built by the company with help of NREA.

It was designed to be self-powered and is designed to achieve energy efficiency of 10 per cent, said BSPcc in a release.

BSPac is also building the first solar farm in India with the support of the NREI.

India has seen a huge boom in solar energy as demand for solar panels has grown over the past few years.

India is expected to grow by more than 40 per cent to 7,000 gigawatts (GW) by 2022, from 7,200 GW in 2022.
